Camera Update

Well, after work I get home and on my front door there is a delivary notice from UPS that they have tried and failed to deliver a package which requires a signature for delivery. I hopped on the computer and looked up the tracking number on the UPS web site and sure enough it is from Florida where the company is located after their move from New York. I left a note for the UPS driver that there would be someone home after 3:00 PM today, signed the back of the notice and gave him instructions where to leave the package if he would accept my signing the delivary notice.  We will see. So much for my order sitting on their shipping dock and arriving on Tuesday next week!  Now I trust them even less!!

ARGGGGGGGG!!!!!!

Current mood: cranky Well, I'm upset, really upset. I finally made up my mind to order that camera I've been wanting, a Canon Rebel XT and get it with a package of lens and other necessary items.  I did lots of research and found the best priced package on the Internet, compaired the price in a local camera store and plunked down my credit card information in the web site. A week later I had not received my camera so I called the toll free number I'd been given in my purchase confirmation email.  Low and behold, it had not even been invoiced yet and they were waiting to hear from me and confirm my order!! Then I was put on hold for nearly 10 min. (yes I timed it). Well, what the hell, you have my credit card order, everyone else ships product when they receive payment why not you??  It was explained that they had lots of fraud with stolen credit card information and so their policy was to confirm the order on the phone before shipping!  OK, OK, so confirm me, well then this guy launches into a big sales pitch trying to sell me extra equipment, up grades on this and that and would not conclude my order.  I asked him if he was a used car salesman in a former life and he got pissed!! Well I was pissed I just wanted my camera, so I dickered with him and got him to throw in free 3 day air service, so I could get my camera.  Cool, I got it.  This was a Wednesday, so I figured I would have it by Saturday.  Saturday came and went, so did Monday and Tuesday of this week, still no camera! I called back again today to check on the status of my order, and guess what it was still sitting on the dock waiting to be shipped at 4:30 PM this afternoon, which means I will not get it till next Tuesday.  Free three day air shipping my eye! This stuff better be at my home next Tuesday or else I'm calling my credit card company and tell them to cancel payment!!  I'm frustrated and pissed!! Pumping New Orleans

The company I work for is talked about in this NPR piece about the horrible situation in New Orleans. Pumps to Expel Remaining New Orleans Water by Greg Allen  All Things Considered, September 6, 2005 · Breaches in three levees and retaining walls caused most of the flooding in New Orleans. At the 17th Street Canal, flood waters are finally under control and pumps are channeling water out of the city.
